The Dash Community Check-In | Saturday, July 18, 2026

Every summer, Seattle Rugby Club pauses the competitive calendar for a different kind of gathering — one built around presence, not points.
The Dash is a joint community check-in hosted by Seattle Rugby Club, Valley Kangaroos, and Seattle Touch Rugby. The idea is simple: get together, play a little touch rugby, share a meal, and check in on each other — not after something has gone wrong, but because we can, while we're all still here.
The event takes its name from Linda Ellis's well-known poem of the same title, which reflects on the small dash between the two dates on a headstone — the years, days, and moments a person actually lived. The Dash began a few years ago after our community lost someone to suicide, and what started as a way to grieve together has grown into something we return to every summer: a chance to celebrate the people in our lives before a eulogy is the only way we can.
When & Where
11:00 AM – 3:00 PMPat Ryan Field1809 S 140th St, SeaTac, WATouch rugby on the field — bring your own BBQ and join in.
7:00 PM – LateThe Old Pequliar1722 NW Market St, Seattle, WAAn evening to keep the conversation going over a drink.
Who's Invited
Everyone. This isn't a Men's XV or Women's XV event, a club-versus-club match, or anything with a scoreboard — it's open to Seattle Rugby Club, Valley Kangaroos, Seattle Touch Rugby, and anyone in the wider rugby community who wants to show up for each other.
Why It Matters
Rugby clubs are built on people showing up for one another, week after week. The Dash is a reminder that showing up doesn't require a jersey or a game on the schedule — sometimes it just means a field, some food, and an evening with people who'd notice if you weren't there.
Come reconnect. Come check in. Come spend a little of your dash with us.
