Six Names That Made History: The Heritage Club is Born

Sixty years doesn't happen by accident. It happens because people show up — year after year, decade after decade — and decide this club is worth their time, their energy, and their support.
That's the story we told at 60 Years of Rugby in Seattle. And it's why, on that same night, we didn't just talk about the future of giving at Seattle Rugby Club — we launched it.
Introducing the Heritage Club
The Heritage Club is a new way for our biggest believers to invest directly in what comes next. Rugby changes lives. It builds character, forges friendships that outlast any season, and creates a community that looks after its own. For decades, this club has done exactly that — welcoming people in, pushing them to grow, and creating opportunities for our members. The Heritage Club exists to make sure that mission continues for the next sixty years.
This isn't about funding a team. It's about investing in coaches who show up every week, in players finding their footing for the first time, and in the community that forms around this game. It's about making sure the next person who walks through our doors gets the same experience that changed someone else's life.
Honoring the Ones Who Started It
We didn't launch the Heritage Club with an empty roster. At the celebration, we inducted six founding members — people whose decades of support to Seattle Rugby Club, Old Puget Sound Beach, and the Puget Sound Breakers built the foundation everything else stands on:
- David Bruck — Benefactor
- Chris & Julie Prentice — Benefactor
- Dick Smith — Benefactor
- Jerry & Vic Penington — Steward
- Martyn Foundation — Steward
- Peter Buckley — Patron
Their names now sit at the top of the Heritage Club roster, and their contribution is worth pausing on. These aren't just names on a plaque — they're the reason there was still a club to celebrate at 60 years. We're deeply grateful for what they've given, and even more grateful they're still standing with us as we look ahead.
What Your Support Makes Possible
Contributions to the Heritage Club are directly invested in our long-term strategy, across four areas:
- Player & Coach Development
- World-Class Facilities & Infrastructure
- Youth & Community Growth
- National Competitive Excellence
Sixty years in, the club is stronger than it's ever been — but the next sixty depend on decisions we make now. The Heritage Club is how our most committed supporters help make those decisions with confidence.
