Flynn Advocates for Rugby Investment at Renton City Council

Seattle Rugby Club President Kevin Flynn stood before the Renton City Council this week with a simple but powerful message: rugby isn't just a sport—it's a pathway for young people to build futures.

More Than Competition

Flynn's testimony centered on what rugby actually does in communities. The sport creates opportunities for employment, stable housing, higher education, and career advancement through a network of players, coaches, alumni, and supporters who believe in each other.

Standing alongside him was a diverse delegation representing the full spectrum of regional rugby—members of the Seattle Slam wheelchair rugby team, youth rugby programs, and adult clubs from across the community. The group asked city leaders to consider expanding access to facilities, programming, and resources that would let rugby continue growing in Renton.
