Seattle Saracens - Current Opportunities


The Seattle Saracens are the premier men’s and women’s amateur rugby club in Washington, providing opportunities on and off the pitch since 1966.

The club is seeking an outstanding Head Coach to oversee the coaching and ongoing strategic development of our women’s rugby program. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record in coaching rugby and gaining results at a high-performance level. They will have a good understanding of the structure of rugby in the United States and a passion for developing the sport. Ability to work as part of a team, adjust coaching delivery for new rugby athletes and National Team players alike, and excellent interpersonal skills are crucial to success in this position.

This role is currently a volunteer position.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Build a successful coaching plan with pre-season, in-season, and post-season objectives

  • Progress individual player skill with the ability to develop a wide range of skill levels with coaching strategy and practice management

  • Plan weekly on-field training sessions in season

  • Develop progressive attacking/defensive systems that complement players’ skillsets and abilities

  • Oversee individual player welfare plan in collaboration with assistant coaches and medical staff ensuring the health and well-being of each player

  • Manage game day selections and programming to enable the team’s top performance

  • Coordinate with General Manager on travel and game day needs

  • Support other community-driven Seattle Saracens activities and events

  • Correspond with Seattle Saracens Board of Directors as needed

Minimum Qualifications:


  • USA Rugby Level 200 coach certification or higher

  • 3+ years coaching experience, head coach position preferred

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

  • Positive work history with peers, managers, players, and past organizations

  • Ability to push and motivate players

  • Must reside in the Greater Seattle Area with the ability to travel to Canada

  • Start date in Fall 2019, preferably September 4th, 2019

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Player recruitment, selection and management experience preferred

  • Experience with video and performance analysis tools and strategies
